Reveal map
Walk it. Reveal it. Keep it.
Most walking apps finish with a route line. Trod keeps a map of what you have uncovered.

The blank edge is the invitation.
A small patch of cloud at the end of a familiar street is enough. Take the next turn, clear it, and the map changes.

Tallinn Old Town
Press “Walk the route” or drag across the map to clear the clouds.
A browser interpretation of Trod’s core reveal mechanic, built from Trod’s Tallinn test route. It is not app UI.
Visible progress
The city begins under cloud.
Walking cuts a clear path through the clouds, turning an ordinary errand or evening loop into visible progress. Come back tomorrow and the streets you revealed are still there.
Trod does not tell you that every walk must be long, fast, or productive. The point is to make curiosity easier to act on.
City progress
Four levels. No fitness judgement.
Supported cities add an exact percentage and four plain-language levels:
- First Steps1 to 9 percent
- Familiar10 to 34 percent
- Known35 to 69 percent
- Claimed70 to 100 percent
These levels describe explored city area, not fitness performance.
Android walking mode
Put the phone away if you want.
Android walking mode can keep revealing while the screen is off. It runs with a visible ongoing notification, so the walk is never hidden in the background. Turn walking mode off and it stops.
Step permission is separate and optional. The map reveal uses location, not a step target.
Location
Coverage, not a timestamped route.
For account progress, the reveal system turns walking-location fixes into small map areas on the phone. It syncs those areas, not the raw fixes or a timestamped route.
Some deliberate actions work differently. Saving a place or submitting a community gem sends the exact point you chose because that point is the feature.
