Terms of Service

Trod is a real-world exploration game. These terms set the ground rules for using it safely, fairly, and respectfully.

1. Who provides Trod

Wanderlab is the public brand behind Trod. The service is operated by Omar Ajruli in Estonia. Contact: ajruli.omar@gmail.com.

These terms apply to the Trod app and Trod-operated websites. By using Trod, you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Who can use Trod

• You must be at least 13 years old.
• If the law where you live requires permission from a parent or guardian, you must have that permission.
• If you use Trod for an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to accept these terms for it.

3. Accounts

• You can start as a guest or create an account using email or Google sign-in.
• Keep your sign-in details secure. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account unless you tell us promptly that it has been compromised.
• Use accurate information and do not impersonate another person or organisation.
• One personal account is for one person. Do not sell, transfer, or share access to it.

4. What Trod is, and what it is not

Trod reveals a game map as you move through the real world. It can track exploration, steps, landmarks, places, quests, friends, circles, and Atlas progress.

5. Explore safely

• Pay attention to traffic, terrain, weather, other people, and local conditions. Do not use the screen when it is unsafe.
• Do not trespass or enter private, restricted, closed, dangerous, or prohibited areas. A place appearing on the map does not give you access to it.
• Follow local law and posted instructions.
• Do not use Trod while driving. A passenger may use it, but the driver must stay focused on the road.
• You choose where and how you travel. Use ordinary care and judgment.

6. Fair play and acceptable use

Map reveal can grow through genuine travel by foot, car, bus, ferry, or train. Steps, streaks, and walking statistics are for real walking. You must not:

• Spoof location, simulate movement, tamper with sensor data, or use automation to create false progress.
• Misrepresent vehicle travel as walking to inflate steps, streaks, or walking statistics.
• Probe, attack, disrupt, overload, scrape, or bypass Trod's security, limits, permissions, or data-integrity controls.
• Access another person's account or private data without permission.
• Reverse engineer Trod except where applicable law expressly allows it.
• Use Trod to threaten, harass, stalk, deceive, discriminate, or break the law.

We can remove invalid progress, limit features, or suspend an account when reasonably necessary to protect the service or enforce these rules. We will consider context and provide notice where practical and legally required.

7. Friends, circles, and sharing

Social features expose information to other people by design. When a friendship is accepted, sharing controls are on by default. Depending on your settings, accepted friends can see profile information, exploration summaries, weekly activity, and a read-only explored-area map. Circle members can see the identity and aggregate activity described before joining.

Review Friends › Privacy before accepting people you do not know well. You can change individual switches, unfriend, block, or leave a circle. A setting change stops future access through Trod, but it cannot retrieve a screenshot or copy someone already made.

Do not use social features to monitor, pressure, or infer sensitive information about another person.

8. Your content

You keep ownership of content you submit, such as a community-gem name or note, profile content, and a circle name. You give Wanderlab a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, copy, format, moderate, and display that content only as needed to operate and protect the Trod service. This licence can continue for public contributions that remain after account deletion, unless the content is removed.

You confirm that you have the right to submit the content and that it does not:

• Violate another person's privacy, intellectual-property rights, or other rights.
• Include unlawful, threatening, hateful, sexually exploitative, deceptive, or dangerous material.
• Publish someone's home, private location, contact details, or other sensitive personal information without a lawful reason and their permission.
• Promote trespass or unsafe access to a place.

Community gems stay pending until reviewed. We can reject, hide, or remove content that violates these terms, creates a safety or privacy risk, or is not useful to the community. Public gem content can remain after account deletion with the reporter account link removed. You can email us to request review or removal of a contribution.

9. Trod's content and licence to you

Trod, Wanderlab branding, software, original artwork, and original interface content are owned by the operator or its licensors. Subject to these terms, you receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Trod for its intended purpose.

Map data is credited to MapTiler and OpenStreetMap contributors. Place text, images, and other material can carry separate source credits and licences.

10. Third-party services and partner links

Trod depends on services such as maps, weather, authentication, hosting, and place-content providers. Their availability and terms can change. Trod is not responsible for a third-party service or site beyond what mandatory law requires.

Some place cards include optional links to GetYourGuide or Viator. These links open an external service and can include an affiliate identifier. Wanderlab may receive a commission if you make a purchase, without changing your price. The external provider's terms, privacy policy, availability, cancellation, and refund rules apply to that transaction.

11. Price and future purchases

Trod's current core experience is free. If paid features are introduced, the price and material terms will be shown before purchase. Google Play billing and refund rules will apply to store purchases. Nothing in these terms removes mandatory consumer rights.

12. Service changes and availability

We can add, change, pause, or retire features to improve Trod, address safety or legal requirements, or keep the service sustainable. We will give reasonable notice before a material change that negatively affects an existing paid entitlement, unless urgent security or legal action is required.

We do not promise uninterrupted access or permanent preservation of game progress. We use reasonable care to keep the service available and data safe.

13. Account suspension and deletion

• You can stop using Trod at any time and delete your account in You › Settings › Delete account. You can also use the external deletion instructions.
• We can restrict or close an account for a serious or repeated breach, unlawful use, fraud, security risk, or harm to other people or the service.
• Deletion removes account-linked data as described in the Privacy Policy. Public community contributions and circle containers used by remaining members can continue after the account link or membership is removed.
• Sections that need to survive termination, including ownership, content licences for retained contributions, disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute terms, remain in effect.

14. Disclaimers

To the extent allowed by law, Trod is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Location signals, sensors, maps, weather, connectivity, and third-party content are imperfect. We do not promise that Trod will always be accurate, available, secure, or suitable for a particular route, activity, or result.

These disclaimers do not exclude warranties or rights that cannot legally be excluded.

15. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, wilful misconduct, or any liability that applicable law does not allow us to limit.

Subject to that rule, and to the maximum extent permitted by law, Wanderlab and the operator are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss caused by unsafe or unlawful real-world choices, third-party services, inaccurate map or place information, device or network failure, or events outside reasonable control.

Where a financial cap is legally permitted, total liability connected with Trod will not exceed the greater of EUR 50 or the amount you paid for Trod in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Mandatory consumer-law remedies remain available.

16. Changes to these terms

We can update these terms when the service, law, or risk changes. For a material change, we will provide reasonable notice in the app or on the service before it takes effect where required. The effective date at the top identifies the current version.

17. Governing law and disputes

Estonian law governs these terms, without taking away mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve a problem directly. If it cannot be resolved, Estonian courts have jurisdiction unless mandatory law gives you the right to bring the claim elsewhere.
